Giving good fashion

Did I ever mention to you all how I choose the collections that I share with you?  No?  Well as I browse  dozens of collections weekly there are plenty that I like, if I showed you everyone that I liked you all would be inundated with posts from me.  No, that is not how I choose.  I know when there is a collection so fabulous that I want to share when I get butterflies in the pit of my stomach as I view the pieces.  There are nice collections and then there are the ones that give you chills. Those are the ones I want to share and that is what I one day hope to create!

What I've been up to

I have been pretty busy as of late,  I've been in a fabulous wedding, carted a sick child off to the hospital for two days, focusing on the many projects I have coming up and I have been turning out summer clothes like there is no tomorrow!  I have a lot of pieces that I would like to share with you all but I don't have pictures of everything yet.  But here are a few items that I have made over the last couple of months.  Hope you like them!

I made this top for a night out in NYC notice the trim on the belt!

I made this top out of a zebra print silk, love it!!

I'd been eyeing this graphic print silk online for a while before I found it at a little fabric shop in NYC at a GREAT price!  Originally I was going to make a cowl neck shell but I think that this looks much better!

I made this for that fabulous wedding I mentioned above from a stretch silk charmeuse.  I wanted to do something bright and colorful for spring and these colors really spoke to me and I think my gorgeous model looks amazing in it!

More to come soon!

I heart Target!

Have I ever mentioned how much I adore Target?  I do, for so many reason and although lately my reason of choice has been that the Target nearest my home has started selling groceries at an insanely low price I have had a long lasting love affair with the chain.  But what I love most is that they always attempt to give their consumer high style at an affordable price whether it be for the home, fashion, or children.

Even more reason to love Target:  They are known for teaming with some of the most renowned designers to bring high fashion to those of us on a budget.  Gotta love 'em for that!

Now even though they don't carry most of these lines any longer I just wanted to share just how fabulous  Target has been to us fashionistas in the past!  Enjoy!

A mid-summers daydream

"We walked through a high hall way into a bright rosy -colored space, fragilely bound into the house by french windows at either end.  The windows were ajar and gleaming white against the fresh grass outside that  seemed to grow a little way into the house.  A breeze blew through the room,  blew curtains in at one end and out the other like pale flags, twisting them up toward the frosted wedding- cake of the ceiling, and then rippled over the wine- coloured rug, making a shadow on it as wind does on the sea.
The only completely stationary object in the room was an enormous couch on which two young women were buoyed up as though upon an anchored balloon.  They were both in white, and their dresses were rippling and fluttering as if they had just been blown back in after a short flight around the house.  I must have stood for a few moments listening to the whip and snap of the curtains and the groan of a picture on the wall.  Then there was a boom as Tom Buchanan shut the rear windows and the caught wind died out about the room, and the curtains and the rugs and the two young women ballooned slowly to the floor." - F. Scott Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby

I remember reading this passage from The Great Gatsby on a cold winters day and imagining the scene so vividly in my minds eye that I could almost imagine myself the third woman in that room, also adorned in all white perched on a nearby settee enjoying the summer breeze.  It was from that moment on my summer wardrobe took a turn from all jeans, tanks and cargo pants to flowing dresses and jeweled sandals.  I have never been one to wear shorts too often in the summertime, so therefore I was often very hot in my long pants or even capris but after reading this one simple passage from this classic novel my summer wardrobe consists now mainly of cool, comfortable and casual dresses that can be dressed up or dressed down to fit any summer event.  Yet I still search every summer I for the perfect little white dress in the vein of Daisy Buchanan and Jordan Baker.
